Isn't it sad!?
I heard a preacher talking about a church where if the people came that meant they must really wanna hear about God and I was thinking about countries where its illegal to worship God or the countries are less privileged and you have to work to go to church, and how the people in the church really really want to hear about God they want to know Him.It made me think about how church would be every Sunday if everyone in the room had a hunger for God-- You didn't have to beg people to come the church wasn't always trying to find new gimmicks to get people to come, people in the church witnessed because they felt the urgency!! They gave what they could and helped an any way they could!! Just think if more churches in America were like that!! We're too privileged we don't feel the urgency to go to church and to learn about God to witness!! Try to imagine your church like that the really sad thing is that I cant really imagine it, it seems like an alternative reality.
Now imagine your church or if you don't go to church a church where you've visited,a typical American church...For some people its a social activity for some its a way to get their "good deed of the week" in. Or to make sure that their friends think their a "good person". Or maybe they only come when they are hurting or having a bad week. Lots of people only come when they dont have any better plans. They dont really want to know God!
Isn't it sad that its allot easier to imagine the second scenario?
Isn't it sad that the church I just described is what we know? Isn't it sad that the people of the church instead of helping people in our churches, lifting each other up,and edifying each other we fight about church dinners, money and other things that will never have any value in the end? Isn't it sad that on Sunday morning when the invitation starts your scared to go up because you don't know what people will think? I think its sad!!
